AI & Visibility

ChatGPT Work has launched. Here is what actually matters for you
OpenAI just released ChatGPT Work, and it is the biggest change to ChatGPT since the tool first appeared. In short: the AI is no longer meant to just answer you, it is meant to do the work. We have read through the launch, and we work with agentic AI ourselves every single day. So let us skip the hype and go straight to what is relevant for you.

What is ChatGPT Work?
ChatGPT Work is OpenAI's new work mode inside ChatGPT, powered by GPT-5.6. It connects to your tools and files, plans the task, and delivers finished documents, spreadsheets, presentations and dashboards. You describe the result you want, not every single step.
It is available in the macOS app on every plan from launch day, and rolls out on Windows, web and mobile for paid plans over the coming days.
The difference from ChatGPT as you know it? Until now you have chatted with the AI, copied the answer, and pasted it into the place where the work actually happens. ChatGPT Work turns that around. It pulls context from your email, your documents and your systems on its own, and hands finished work back to you.
What is new, specifically?
Five things stand out in the launch:
Action across your tools: ChatGPT can pull context from more than 1,400 connections (think CRM, email, files, spreadsheets) and use it to produce finished deliverables.
Plan mode: Before the AI gets started, it builds a step-by-step plan you can adjust and approve. You see what it intends to do before it does it.
Sites: Ideas, plans and data can be turned into interactive web pages and dashboards that keep themselves up to date. Project trackers, reports, launch calendars.
Scheduled tasks: One-off or recurring tasks that run on a schedule. The weekly report can build itself while you sleep.
Built-in browser: The desktop app now has its own browser with tabs, so the AI can work inside web-based tools alongside you.
None of this is science fiction. We recognize it, because we have been running Wud this way for quite a while already, just with Claude as the engine instead. Monthly reports, campaign follow-up and content production here run as agent tasks on fixed routines. What OpenAI is launching now is the same way of working, packaged up for everyone.
Does it work as well as the demos?
Yes and no. The customer stories in the launch are impressive: Virgin Atlantic cut competitor analysis from weeks to hours, and Zapier built a system that tracks thousands of leads automatically. But notice who is doing the talking. NVIDIA, Shopify, RingCentral. Large companies with dedicated AI teams that have built everything around the tool.
Our experience from working agentically in practice: the tool is rarely the bottleneck. The context is. An AI agent that does not know who your customers are, how you write, or where the numbers live, delivers generic filler. Faster than before, but still filler. An agent with access to the right context delivers work you can actually send out.
That is good news for small teams. You do not need a ten-person AI team. You need your own house in order.
What should a small marketing team do now?
Do not buy licenses for the whole company today. Do this first:
Pick the one workflow that hurts. The monthly report, the weekly update to management, following up on leads. Something repetitive that eats hours.
Gather the context. Write down how the task is done today, where the data lives, and what a good result looks like. That document is gold no matter which AI tool you land on.
Test with Plan mode on. Let the AI show you its plan before it does anything. That way you learn how it thinks, and you catch mistakes before they happen.
Measure the time. Did the task take four hours before and forty minutes now? Then you know what the next workflow is worth.
And one more thing: keep a human in the loop on everything that leaves the building. The AI can write the draft, but someone on your team should be the one who hits send.
The part few people talk about: your customers are moving into the AI too
ChatGPT Work is about how you work. But the same shift is changing how your customers search. When research, comparisons and supplier decisions happen inside ChatGPT instead of across ten open Google tabs, ranking well on Google is no longer enough. The AI also has to mention you when someone asks for a recommendation.
That is called AI visibility (or AEO, Answer Engine Optimization), and it is one of the things we measure and work on for our clients. Every launch that makes AI assistants more useful at work makes that visibility a little more important. This launch is no exception.
The bottom line: this is the starting gun, not the finish line
ChatGPT Work is a clear signal of where working life is heading. The AI is moving out of the chat window and into the work itself. The ones who get the most out of it are not the ones with the biggest budget, but the ones who have their context in order: data, routines and a clear voice.

Frequently asked questions about ChatGPT Work
What does ChatGPT Work cost?
ChatGPT Work is available across the ChatGPT plans, from the free plan in the macOS app to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise. The web and mobile features are rolling out to paid plans. Check openai.com for current pricing in Norway.
What is the difference between ChatGPT Work and regular ChatGPT?
Regular ChatGPT answers questions in a chat. ChatGPT Work connects to your tools and files, plans tasks and delivers finished documents, spreadsheets and presentations. You get completed work, not just text you have to rework yourself.
What is GPT-5.6?
GPT-5.6 is OpenAI's newest model series for professional work, and the engine behind ChatGPT Work. It comes in the Sol, Terra and Luna variants, and is built to handle vaguely defined tasks with less micromanagement from you.
Is ChatGPT Work safe to use with company data?
The Business and Enterprise plans have their own data processing terms. Before you connect your CRM or your email, check which data the tool gets access to, and clear it against your own privacy routines. Start with data that is not sensitive.
Do we need ChatGPT Work if we already use Claude or Copilot?
Not necessarily. Claude, Copilot and ChatGPT Work are all moving toward the same way of working: AI that carries out tasks inside your tools. What matters most is not which engine you choose, but that your context (data, routines, tone of voice) is set up so the AI can do a good job.
Are AI agents going to replace our marketing team?
No, but they change what the team spends its time on. Reporting, research and first drafts can be automated. Strategy, customer understanding and quality control become more important, not less. Small teams get more done, they do not get smaller.
