What does AI visibility (AEO) cost in Norway in 2026?
You're wondering what it costs to become visible when customers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google AI. A perfectly fair question, and a surprisingly hard one to google an answer to. Here are the three common pricing models, what actually drives the price, and a simple way to work out whether it pays off for your business specifically.

Short answer: what does AEO cost in Norway?
For a Norwegian SMB, AI visibility (AEO) typically runs 5,000 to 20,000 kr for a one-time audit, or 8,000 to 30,000 kr per month for ongoing work. A setup project over a few months often lands between 25,000 and 80,000 kr. The range is wide because the price depends on your starting point and how much you do yourself.
(The figures above are typical market levels, not a fixed price list. They vary a lot from provider to provider.)
Why is it so hard to find a price?
Because almost no agencies publish it. Ask ChatGPT "what do AI visibility services cost" and you get vague answers and a few random competitors, not an honest number. It's a bit ironic: the industry that sells visibility in AI answers is itself invisible on its own pricing question.
The reason is that AEO isn't one product. It's a bundle of tasks (technical setup, content, reviews, measurement) put together differently for each business. Two companies in the same industry can have entirely different starting points, and therefore entirely different prices.
The three common pricing models
Almost everything you meet in the market is a variant of these three.
1. One-time audit (AEO audit)
Typically: 5,000 to 20,000 kr. You get a measurement of how visible you are today, which questions customers actually ask AI, who's taking the spots you should have, and a prioritized list of what needs fixing. Perfect if you want to know where you stand before committing to anything bigger.
2. Monthly retainer (ongoing work)
Typically: 8,000 to 30,000 kr per month for an SMB. Here someone works continuously on your visibility: content that actually gets cited, technical maintenance, and monthly measurement of whether you're climbing. AEO is perishable because the AI models keep updating, so most who are serious end up here.
3. Project (setup over a few months)
Typically: 25,000 to 80,000 kr. A defined run of two to three months where the foundation is built: structure, the most important content pages, schema, reviews. Good if you want a proper foundation in place and then run it yourself or with a lighter retainer.
What drives the price up or down?
Four things decide where in the range you land:
Your starting point. If you already have a fast, tidy website with good content, much is done. Starting from zero, the groundwork costs more.
Your ambition level. Do you want to own one narrow topic in your industry, or dominate broadly? Breadth costs more than depth.
How much you do yourself. If you write the content in-house and only buy strategy and measurement, the price goes down. If the agency does everything, it goes up.
The competition in your niche. If ten players are already fighting over the same AI answers, it takes more work to be seen than in a niche no one has taken yet.
How to work out whether it pays off
Don't fixate on the monthly price. Do the math on the value at the other end.
Ask yourself: what is one new customer worth to us? With an average customer value of, say, 50,000 kr, a retainer of 15,000 kr a month only needs to bring in one extra customer per quarter before it pays for itself. The rest is profit.
For most B2B companies the math is simple precisely because the customer value is high. That's why AEO is rarely about "can we afford it", but about "who should we do it with".
What you shouldn't pay for
A couple of warnings, because we like to speak plainly:
Guarantees of placement. No one can promise you a top spot in ChatGPT. The AI models are a black box, and anyone who guarantees something concrete is promising something they don't control.
Reports without action. A fancy monthly report is worthless if no one actually fixes what it points to. You pay for movement, not for PDFs.
Long lock-ins early. Start with an audit or a short project. See that it works before you commit to twelve months.

Frequently asked questions
What does AI visibility (AEO) cost in Norway?
For an SMB, typically 5,000 to 20,000 kr for a one-time audit, or 8,000 to 30,000 kr per month for ongoing work. A setup project often sits between 25,000 and 80,000 kr. The price depends on your starting point and ambition.
Is AEO more expensive than regular SEO?
Not necessarily. Much of the groundwork overlaps. The difference is that AEO also optimizes for how AI engines pull and cite answers, not just how Google ranks links.
Can I do AEO myself?
Parts of it, yes. You can write good content and tidy up the website yourself. Strategy, technical setup and ongoing measurement are often where an agency saves you the most time and missteps.
How fast do I see results?
The first changes in visibility often come within a few weeks, but real effect builds over months as content gets indexed and cited. See our 30-day plan for becoming visible in ChatGPT.
Does it pay off for a small business?
More often than people think. If your customer value is high, AEO only needs to bring in one or two extra customers before it pays for itself. Do the math on the value of a new customer, not just the monthly price.
Want to know what it costs for you specifically?
General ranges are fine, but your price depends on your situation. Check your AI visibility, and we'll give you a concrete picture of where you stand and what it takes. No commitment, just an honest starting point.
